The cooking time required depends very much on the potatoes: size, consistency and initial temperature.
For example: 1 kg of floury potatoes (which are at normal room temperature) may only take 2 minutes longer to cook than a pound of potatoes, whereas 1 kg of firm-boiling potatoes (from a cold cellar) may take twice as long as a pound of potatoes.
We can give the following TIPS:
- Always peel the potatoes
- cut large potatoes in half
- only use 500 ml instead of 650 ml of water (this is easily enough for 1 kg of potatoes and shortens the heating time)
- If you know how long your favourite potatoes take to cook in a certain quantity in a conventional pot, you can roughly halve the cooking time there and set it as the cooking time for the MD 1000. This guide value usually works and only needs to be adjusted a little.
