A dry seam is a prerequisite for securely sealing the bags. To ensure this, we recommend cutting the vacuum bags generously. As the liquid potentially contained in the bag reaches the top, right up to the edge of the bag, during the vacuuming process, the edge may not be sealed properly if the bags are cut too short.
Using the wet vacuuming function on the VAC 285/385/485/585 reduces the maximum vacuum and extends the sealing time, which ensures a better sealing result.
Note:
The very effective suction power of the appliance removes approx. 97 % of the air from a bag and naturally also sucks out all liquids. We therefore recommend our special vacuum containers for vacuuming liquid foods. However, you can also freeze a portion (using goulash as an example) and then vacuum seal it in a bag (without the freezer container). The goulash in the bag can then be reheated in a hot water bath if required.
