We currently assume that the seeds are too moist. If the seeds are too moist or too large, the screw conveyor of the oil press can become blocked.
Pre-drying the seeds is almost essential to ensure that the oil press can process the seeds optimally.
Even seeds freshly removed from the sales packaging have too high a residual moisture content to be optimally processed by the oil press.
To avoid clogging the appliance, you can pre-dry the seeds at approx. 60 °C in the oven with circulating air - depending on the type of seed, this can take several hours.
Please ensure that the oven door is always left slightly open so that the moist air can escape.
Once the seeds have cooled down, they should be processed immediately before they attract moisture again.
Alternatively, a dehydrator or a hot air fryer can also be used for pre-drying - however, the drying process is significantly slower in this case.
