Can you trace what food the residue might have come from? Have you perhaps melted sugar (or food containing sugar)? Such residues can also be removed by soaking in rinsing water for a longer period (overnight).
Soaking the stain in a little cooking oil for a longer period of time can also loosen stubborn stains.
If this has no effect, such stains can also be removed with lemon or lemon concentrate.
