The colourings (carotenoids) in certain foods such as tomatoes, carrots and peppers are so persistent that they leave permanent marks on various materials. However, this is ‘only’ a visual problem and does not affect the hygiene and functionality of the shelves.
Nevertheless, our customer service team has a few tips for you:
- Carotene is soluble in oil; you can therefore rub the dehydrator shelves vigorously with a little cooking oil. Often with astonishing success.
- Some people also swear by placing things discoloured by carotene in the bright summer sun for a few hours. This probably also breaks down the colouring.
